My Generation was an intergenerational series of filmmaking workshops for young residents (ages 11-21) of a housing estate community based in North East London London. Participants learned the basics of how to shoot, light and record short films for YouTube and TikTok. Young residents also devised questions for their elders about the history of the estate which were recorded and formed the basis for a short oral history film My Generation.

My Generation enabled two trainee work placements  to be awarded and work experience opportunities for six students from Big Creative Academy. The project culminated at a screening of My Generation and careers networking event. WATCH My Generation: The Making Of.

Our workshops were run by Sarah Gregory of The Creative Industries Federation, TV Producer Kate Hampel (HBO Max, Apple TV, Netflix) and Cinematographer Richard Jephcote (Netflix, HBO, BBC). The project is supported by William Morris Big Local and Big Creative Academy For more information contact us on thedigitalstorycompany@gmail.com.
